French President Emmanuel Macron said that a short Brexit extension would be possible only if the House of Commons votes in favour of UK Prime Minister Theresa May's deal. He made the remarks in Brussels ahead of the European Council summit on Thursday.
"We have to be clear: we can discuss and agree on an extension, if it is a technical extension, in case of a yes vote on the agreement we negotiated during two years," said Macron.
"In case of a no vote or no, I mean directly, it will guide everybody to a no deal for sure. This is it," he added.
