US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived in Brussels on Monday, to discuss the Iran nuclear deal with European diplomats. He made a last-minute stopover in the Belgian capital after delaying his planned visit to Russia, where he was due to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Pompeo reportedly decided to join leaders from Germany, the UK and France, who were slated to discuss a response to Tehran's threats to scrap some commitments made under the 2015 nuclear accord.

The US diplomat will reportedly still be travelling to Russia on Tuesday.
