China will halve the rates of additional tariffs on some U.S. products ‪starting February 14‬. The Customs Tariff Commission has termed the move an effort to promote the healthy and stable development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations. The move will halve the 10 percent and 5 percent rates on a list of U.S. products that have been subject to additional tariffs since September 1, 2019. The list is part of a two-step tariff countermeasure targeting U.S. products worth about 75 billion U.S. dollars. The move comes after the U.S. announced that it would halve its 15 percent additional tariffs on Chinese products worth around 120 billion U.S. dollars ‪on February 14.‬
