The relevance of the African Union will be in the spotlight as Mo Ibrahim Foundation's Governance Summit kicks off in Rwanda on Friday. Prominent African political and business leaders, as well as civil society and international partners are set to attend the event. Former Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will be awarded the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Achievement in African Leadership. It was launched in 2007 to acknowledge presidents who excel while in office and do not cling to power beyond their term.
