It’s the beginning of cold and flu season, and I hope you’ve gotten your flu shot by now because nobody is safe. And I mean nobody.
What’s up guys it’s Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and Ariana Grande might have recently collabed with Lizzo, but she’s definitely not feeling “Good as Hell”.
Ari had to cancel her stop in Lexington, Kentucky for the Sweetener World Tour after complaining about feeling ill for over 3 weeks.
Over the weekend she went on her Instagram story to tell fans the bad news. She started off by saying “Hi my loves, so I’m still very sick. I’ve been sick since the last London show”.
That last London show happened over a month ago, on October 15th and 16th.
She continued “I don’t know how it’s possible but my throat and head are still in so much pain. I sound okay I’m just in a lot of pain and it’s difficult to breathe during the show”.
“I am seeing my doctor and trying my very best to get better for tomorrow’s show. The last thing I would ever want to do is cancel a show at this point with so few left.”
Ariana’s Sweetener Tour first started in March of this year. Earlier this month, it started it’s second leg in North America and will conclude for good in Los Angeles on December 22nd.
She said “I’m truly cherishing every moment of this … I just really don’t know what’s happening with my body right now and need to figure it out”.
Ari, I think we know what’s happening you poor thing. You must be EXHAUSTED. Between touring nonstop, releasing new music, producing the entire Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, releasing new merch, and everything in between - your body just needs a long rest!
I work two hours of overtime ONE day and I get sick for a week. Ari has been going nonstop since, what, 2017?
She continued, “Please take this as a gentle heads up..I don’t want anyone to feel blindsided tomorrow if god forbid I can’t make the show happen”.
Unfortunately for Arianators in Kentucky, she did in fact end up cancelling her Sunday Lexington show.
“I’m on all the meds”, she finished saying in her initial message.
But that’s an understatement. When Ariana gets sick, she doesn’t just double up on her dosage of Dayquil and have some chicken noodle soup. She goes all out.
Like, she got a whole IV drip with vitamins to come to her.
She got a personalized throat steamer to help her voice.
She posted a little video of her using the device, along with the message “Sorry for the anxious updates and for oversharing. I just don’t want anyone not aware of what’s going on ahead of time. You know I push through and hide things as often as I can slash as well as I can when sick, and I wouldn’t say something unless it were really tough.
Ari, we don’t want you to hide these things! Take all the time we need. We’re all here for you, emotionally speaking of course. She has good friends who are actually, you know, like PHYSICALLY there for her.
Her friends Alfredo Flores and Kid Orange got her some lemons, ginger, and cinnamon tea.
And some marshmallows for taste.
As well as, uh, some cucumbers and saffron, the most expensive spice in the world.
Later on, she cooked up some bay leaves and cinnamon sticks - a recipe she apparently learned from FKA Twigs
But FKA isn’t the only celebrity helping Ari out. Barbara Streisand suggested some vitamin C drink with manuka honey and, of course, Chicken soup.
And if all that wasn’t enough, there’s nothing that makes you feel better quite like binging Gossip Girl.
So now that you know Ariana’s sick day routine, there’s nothing stopping you from going out there and living your best cute, drama free - and germ free - life.
But unfortunately even all of that wasn’t enough to make up for the year and a half of sleep that Ari needs to catch up on.
She posted another message to her instagram story, saying “Update, Still can’t swallow or lift my head. Love you. Medicated AF and hoping to wake up better. Seeing doc again in AM and will let you know about the show. I’m so sorry again. It’s catching up to me I guess”.
