Students in an outgoing 8th-grade class at a school in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, each received a bulletproof shield for their backpack as a graduation gift. Huffington Post reports that sportswear company Unequal Technologies, donated the 10-by-12-inch plates to the students of St. Cornelius Catholic School as they prepare for high school. Unequal CEO Robert Vito said, “It’s sad the times have called for such a product to be invented, but we have answered the call." The “Safe Shield” plates retail for $149.95. Schools can purchase the shields for $99.
