Net profits of companies of strategic, special interest to state go down in 2015

Forty-three companies and legal entities of strategic and special interest to the state in 2015 earned a net profit of HRK 1.5 billion, which is 35.7% less than in 2014, and their revenues dropped as well, show consolidated financial data released by the Financial Agency (FINA).

Number of people with frozen bank accounts up 9% in 3 years

The number of people in Croatia who have had their bank accounts frozen due to default payments increased by 9 percent from the end of 2013 to the end of 2016, while at the same time their unpaid obligations grew by almost 73 percent, data released by the Financial Agency (FINA) show.

330,000 Croats, 31,000 businesses with blocked accounts at end of Nov

There were 31,252 businesses with blocked accounts at the end of November because of unpaid debts totalling HRK 18.16 billion as well as 330,297 individuals with debts totalling HRK 41.08 billion, the Financial Agency (Fina) said on Monday.

Hospitality businesses more successful on coast than inland

There was total of 4,658 enterprises registered in tourism and hospitality on the Adriatic coast and another 3,604 registered inland with those on the coast generating a higher income, the FINA financial agency reported on Tuesday - World Tourism Day.

At the end of July 328,357 people in Croatia had their accounts frozen with HRK 40.26 billion in total outstanding debt, while the number of businesses with frozen accounts was 31,455, owing HRK 19.2 billion, the latest figures provided by the Financial Agency (FINA) show.

Over 106,000 VAT businesses operated in Croatia in 2015

Last year more than 106,500 businesses subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) operated in Croatia, employing 836,600 workers and generating HRK 639.6 billion in revenues and 17.1 billion in net profits, according to the latest figures provided by the Financial Agency (FINA).

Croatian island businesses' revenues grow 10 pct in 2015

During 2015, a total of 3,933 entrepreneurs did business on Croatian islands, and their revenues totalled HRK 9.7 billion, up 9.9% from 2014, according to figures collected by the Financial Agency (FINA).

The report is based on data from the FINA Register of Annual Financial Statements covering 106,569 enterprises subject to profit tax, excluding banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions.

HDZ calls for inquiry commission on pre-bankruptcy settlements

"I think that parliament should by consensus form an inquiry commission that will determine all the circumstances surrounding pre-bankruptcy settlements. That will be a long-term and painstaking job, but it is necessary," Maric said.
