PM says balanced development of Croatia is a government priority

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Monday, after a meeting with county prefects and representatives of associations of towns and municipalities, that a balanced development of Croatia is the priority of the government and all county prefects, regardless of which political party they come from.

IJF: Local government direct debt doubles since 2002

The total debt of counties, cities and municipalities more than doubled from 2002 to 2014, growing from HRK 2 billion in 2002 to HRK 4.5 billion in 2014, mostly due to loans, the Institute of Public Finance (IJF) says in a study.

The survey was conducted among 750 adult citizens and 73% said that counties, cities and municipalities had much better defined their priorities for budget funding than the central government.
