US Zika command centre on highest level alert

The US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is putting its emergency operations centre on the highest level alert in response to the Zika virus.

The CDC is moving to the highest level 1 alert amid a "the need for an accelerated preparedness to bring together experts to focus intently and work efficiently in anticipation of local Zika virus transmission by mosquitoes in the continental US," it says.
