US, Israel agree on military aid package worth billions

The United States and Israel have reached an agreement worth billions of dollars in military aid to be spread out over a decade, the State Department said Tuesday.

The agreement, set to run between 2019 and 2028 "constitutes the single largest pledge of bilateral military assistance in US history," according to the State Department statement.

The actual aid figure was not provided, but the current agreement running until 2017 earmarks 3 billion dollars worth of US military aid per year to Israel.

The agreement is to be officially signed on Wednesday in Washington.
