Two members of Serbian embassy staff kidnapped in Libya

Two members of the staff of the Serbian Embassy in Libya have been kidnapped in Sirte, the Belgrade media quoted sources at the Serbian Foreign Ministry as saying.

The two embassy employees were abducted on Sunday morning, the Blic daily said in its electronic edition after receiving confirmation from the Foreign Ministry.

Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic has been in touch with his Libyan counterpart and more information is expected soon.

Sirte, located halfway between Tripoli and Benghazi, was one of the strongholds of toppled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. It was seized by the Islamic State terrorist organisation in June.
