Turkish prime minister accuses West of "hypocrisy" in Syria

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has accused the West of taking a hypocritical position in Syria, according to state-run news agency Anadolu.

Some groups, including the United Nations Security Council, wouldn't "lift a single finger for a solution to the crisis in Syria," Anadolu quotes Davutoglu as saying in The Hague, where he met Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte Wednesday as part of The Netherlands's presidency of the European Union.

At the same time, the West is demanding that Turkey open its borders to refugees, but nothing is being done to stop Russian airstrikes.

Syrian regime troops and their allies, including Russia, have in the past week regained ground in northern Aleppo, cutting off rebel supply routes to the province and central Syria, where violence has forced thousands of civilians to flee to the Turkish border.

UN agencies called on Turkey Tuesday to let in Syrian refugees fleeing the government onslaught.

Turkey has kept the border closed to all except wounded individuals.
