Russia halts airstrikes on truce-compliant groups, Moscow says

Russia has halted airstrikes on Syrian groups who have joined the ceasefire agreement, the country's military says.

"Russia has fully stopped delivering strikes in 'the green zone' - those areas and armed units that have sent to us requests for ceasefire," Sergey Rudskoy of the Russian general staff says in remarks carried by the official TASS news agency.

In order to avoid mistakes, and taking into account the start of the ceasefire, the Russian air force will not be carrying out any flights in Syria on Saturday, Rudskoy says.
