Reports: 3 veiled women killed trying to carry out attack in Kenya

Three veiled women were killed after they launched an attack on the central police station in Kenya's port city of Mombasa on Sunday, media reports said.

The three women were being questioned by police regarding a stolen mobile telephone on Sunday morning when one of them attacked a police officer with a knife, while a second threw a petrol bomb, the reports quoted police chief Patterson Maelo as saying.

The reports said police officers opened fire on the women after they launched their attack. Two officers were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.

The motive for the attack was not immediately clear and an investigation was under way, according to the reports in the Standard and Daily Nation newspapers.
