Report: Blast near Prophet's Mosque in Medina

An explosion has taken place near the Prophet's Mosque in Medina, one of the most sacred Islamic sites, Saudi-owned media report, without mentioning any casualties.

Saudi news site Sabq, which is seen as close to the authorities, says a blast took place outside a security building near the mosque and led to a fire breaking in a nearby car park.

Saudi-owned broadcaster Al Arabiya says the blast was caused by a suicide attack and took place at the same time as a suicide attack that reportedly targeted a mosque in the mainly Shiite eastern city of Qatif.
