Police arrest "heavily armed" man going to LA gay pride parade

Police in Santa Monica, California, arrested a "heavily armed" man overnight who said he had planned to go to a gay pride rally Sunday in West Hollywood, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti says.

He says the incident is believed to be "completely unrelated" to the massacre at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

"We are out here to march, to celebrate and to mourn," Garcetti said at a press conference on the sidelines of the LA Pride Music Festival

The Los Angeles Times reported that police investigating a report of a prowler found a man who had a car with license plates from the Midwestern state of Indiana, and which contained assault rifles, ammunition and suspected explosives.
