Obama cries as he remembers children killed by guns

US President Barack Obama cries as he recalls the young children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 and other victims of gun violence as he announces efforts to tighten background checks on gun buyers.

"Every time I think about those kids it makes me mad," he declares, wiping away tears. "And it happens on the streets of Chicago everyday."

Obama was introduced at the event by the father of one of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting victims.
