Moroccan boxer Hassan Saada has been arrested in the Olympic village for the Rio Games on assault charges, Brazilian police said on Friday.
Saada, 22, is suspected to have harassed two service staff members in the village on Wednesday. The initial detention period is 15 days.
The police statement spoke of "rape" but under Brazilian law this also covers lesser acts when they are against the person's will or when the person is a minor.
Saada is listed to compete in the light-heavyweight competition at the Rio Olympics which were to open later Friday.
