At least 9 dead in Kabul explosion as Taliban claim responsibility

At least nine people were killed in a suicide bombing in front of the Afghan Ministry of Defense, police said.

"Thirteen others are wounded in the attack by a suicide bomber who blew up his explosive vest near the entry gate," said Basir Mujahid, the spokesman for Kabul's police force.

On Twitter, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack, saying a suicide bomber had "killed 23 military officers and [wounded] 29 others."
