Israel tries to shoot down pilot-less plane over Golan Heights

Israel tried to shoot down a drone over the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights Sunday, the military said.

Two Patriot defence missiles were fired at the drone after it infiltrated Israeli airspace from Syria, it said in a statement.

The drone returned to Syria, it said.

Sirens wailed in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights, "according to military protocol," said the statement.

Israel captured the strategic plateau, overlooking the Sea of Galilee, from Syria in the 1967 Six-Day War
