Lawyers for Deniz Yucel, a correspondent for Germany's Die Welt newspaper currently detained in Turkey, have lodged an appeal against his arrest warrant with the Constitutional Court in Ankara, Die Welt reported on Wednesday.
Yucel's lawyers, Veysel Ok and Ferat Cagil, had already appealed against his pre-trial detention at a court in Istanbul in early March, but the request was denied two weeks ago.
An arrest warrant for Yucel, who has joint German and Turkish citizenship, was issued on February 27. He is accused by the Turkish authorities of spreading propaganda for the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Gulen movement.
The Turkish leadership blames supporters of exiled cleric Fethullah Gulen for a failed military coup in July.
