The death toll from a car bombing in Baghdad at the weekend has risen to at least 250, an Iraqi Health Ministry source told dpa on Wednesday.
Some critically injured victims died in hospital, the source said, while several more bodies were recovered on Tuesday from the site of the attack.
The bomb went off at about 1 am Sunday (2200 GMT Saturday) in Baghdad's central district of Karada.
At the time, families were shopping for presents for the Eid festival at the end of Ramadan, and restaurants were crowded for the pre-dawn meal in preparation for a day of fasting.
More than 300 people were wounded.
The Islamic State extremist group claimed responsibility for the attack. In a statement circulated online by Islamic State supporters, which dpa could not verify, it claimed that a suicide bomber targeted Shiites.
