The death toll from the cyclone that hit Fiji over the weekend climbed to 29, local media reported Tuesday.
Cyclone Winston, the most powerful storm in Fiji's history, battered the country's main island of Viti Levu and other smaller surrounding islands on Saturday, the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation reported.
The storm packed winds of up to 325 kilometres per hour, destroying homes and taking down power lines.
The deadliest cyclone in Fiji's history, Cyclone Meli, killed 53 people in 1979, the report said.
