Croatia 15th greenest country globally

Croatia has been ranked 15th among 180 countries according to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), which is compiled by Yale University, Slovenia's STA news agency said on Thursday.

The EPI is calculated according to a state's activity in care for human health and ecosystems.

Croatia has been ranked 15th, with a score of 86.98. The best ranked country is Finland, with a score of 90.68. Croatia's neighbour Slovenia is fifth.

Somalia, Eritrea, Madagascar and Niger are at the bottom of the ranking.

According to Yale, the world is making progress in some environmental protection issues, while regressing in many. Progress has been achieved in access to drinking water and toilets, while air pollution is the biggest problem, notably in fast growing economies.
