Car bomb kills at least 18 in Iraq’s Khalis city

At least 18 people were killed Monday in a suicide attack at a crowded security checkpoint in Iraq’s Diyala province, according to police sources.t

Driving an explosives-packed car, the suicide bomber blew himself up near the entrance of Khalis city, north-east of the capital Baghdad, the sources added. 

Thirty people were injured in the attack, which has not yet been claimed by any group.

On Sunday, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a mostly Shiite area of Baghdad, killing at 30 others in a series of attacks targeting Iraq's Shiite community.
