Boko Haram releases video showing missing Chibok girls

The Boko Haram terror group released a video on Sunday showing dozens of young women who were abducted two years ago from north-eastern Nigeria's Chibok village.

In the video, a masked gunman clutching an assault rifle calls on the parents of the "Chibok girls" to pressure the Nigerian government to release detained Boko Haram members, promising to let the kidnapped young women go in return.

Bring Back Our Girls, a group working to recover the kidnapping victims, confirmed the identity of a girl speaking in the video and said several others shown in the video were also among those abducted leaving "no room for doubt that these are our girls."

The group called on the Nigerian government to take action with "an immediate, transparent, action and results-oriented plan" and called on the international community to support rescue efforts.

The video was circulated Sunday by websites from sources associated with the terrorists. The US-based SITE Intelligence Group, which tracks terrorists' online activity, confirmed the video as real.

One of the girls speaks to the camera in the video, saying the girls are suffering and asking the government to comply with Boko Haram's demands.

"There is nothing you, or we, can do about this but to get theirpeople back to them, so we can go home," she says.

Boko Haram kidnapped 276 girls and young women on April 14, 2014, from their school dormitory. Only about 50 of the abductees managed to escape immediately, while the rest are still believed to be held by Boko Haram, either as sex slaves or in forced marriages.
