A man was arrested in northern China Tuesday, suspected of having started a blaze on a bus that killed 17 people, state media reported.
The bus caught fire near a shopping centre in Helan County, Yinchuan City, at around 7 am (2300 GMT Monday), the state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
More than 30 people were injured in the blaze on the 84-seat vehicle. Six of them were seriously injured, a senior hospital official said.
Footage on the People's Daily Twitter page showed flames coming out of the vehicle's windows.
One survivor, Hu Yueziang, told reporters that he was at the front of the bus when passengers suddenly started screaming "Bus on fire!" The fast-moving flames reached his shoes before he managed to rush out, he said.
