10 dead, 8 missing after China boating accidents

Ten people died and eight others were missing after two recent boating accidents in China.

A traditional long boat that took part in a Dragon Boat Festival on the Minjiang River in eastern Fujian province capsized on Thursday.

By Friday, 33 people who were onboard the boat had been rescued, but three remained missing, according to local news reports.

Separately, the death toll from a leisure boat that capsized in south-west China's Sichuan Province rose to 10 on Thursday after rescuers recovered six more bodies.

Five people were still missing from the June 4 accident in Sichuan's Bailong Lake, Xinhua news agency reported Friday.
