Turkish Airlines launches Istanbul-Dubrovnik flight service

The first Turkish Airlines flight landed at Dubrovnik airport on Tuesday as part of the airline's newly-launched service between Istanbul and the southern Croatian Adriatic city.

On board were representatives of Turkish Airlines, reporters from various countries and Turkish Ambassador Ahmed Tuta, who were greeted by the airport's CEO Roko Tolic, Dubrovnik-Neretva County head Nikola Dobroslavic and Dubrovnik Mayor Andro Vlahusic.

"Dubrovnik is now connected with the whole world, and on its necklace of partners Turkish Airlines now has the Pearl of the Adriatic," Tolic said.

Tuta said that establishing connections between the two countries was one of the main tasks when he was appointed ambassador. "We have put in a lot of effort and work to achieve this and I am really happy that we have achieved something concrete," he said.

Turkish Airlines' human resources director Abdulkerim Cay thanked everyone for cooperation and welcomed Dubrovnik as TA's 288th destination. "This is not just a good business move, but also a step forward in advancing Croatian-Turkish relations," he said.

Turkish Airlines will fly between Istanbul and Dubrovnik five to six times a week during the summer season and the airline's executives said that the number of flights would be increased with time.
