Six people were treated in hospital and 96 detained in clashes in Berlin between fans of Hertha Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt, police said Sunday.
Fighting broke out between supporters of the two clubs in the district of Moabit on Saturday hours ahead of the evening German Bundesliga football match at the Olympic Stadium.
Fans were masked and attacked each other with bottles, tools, beer crates, chairs and fireworks, police said.
First police arriving at the scene also came under attack and had to draw their weapons to keep around 60 attackers at bay.
The match ended in a 2-0 victory for Hertha.
