Sara Kolak wins Olympic gold in Women's javelin throw

Croatia's 21-year-old Sara Kolak won the gold medal in the Women's javelin throw at the Rio Olympic Games on Thursday, scoring a personal as well as national best of 66.18 metres in the fourth series of the final.

Sunette Viljoen of South Africa won the silver, throwing 64.92 m, while world champion Barbora Spotakova of the Czech Republic won the bronze, throwing 64.80 m.

This was the seventh medal won by Croatian athletes at the 2016 Summer Olympics, comprising five golds and two silvers. Croatia is now 15th in the medal standings.
