Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko doesn't rule out civil court action, the Tass news agency quotes him as saying after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejects appeals from Russia against an Olympic ban for their track and field athletes.
"I believe we’ll continue defending our honor and dignity and time has come to turn to a civil court," Mutko said.
He named the CAS ruling "a judgement that violates the rights of ‘clean,’ conscientious athletes, thus creating a precedent."
Mutko alleged that "the [Richard] McLaren report has undoubtedly affected the CAS’ ruling," referring to report published Monday by the World Anti-Doping Agency on large-scale doping in Russia in various sports.
