Russia slams verdict on Olympic ban as unjustified, politicized

Russia's Sport Minister Vitaly Mutko rejects a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to uphold a ban on dozens of Russian athletes from participating in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Rio.

The decision by the CAS to reject an appeal by 67 Russian track and field athletes was unjustified and politicized, Mutko tells Russian state news agency TASS.

"Only with grief can I say that now we will consider our further actions. In my opinion, this was a subjective decision, a rather politicized decision, upon which there was no legal basis," Mutko says.
