IAAF World Challenge Zagreb set for 5-6 Sept.

The 66th edition of the Hanzekovic track and field meeting, one of IAAF World Challenge meetings, will take place in Zagreb on 5-6 September, the event's director Ivana Brkljacic said recently.

On the first day, 5 September, shot-putters will compete by the Zagreb Fountains and the event features all three the latest Olympic medallists: Olympic Champion, American Ryan Crouser, and his compatriot Joe Kovacs who grabbed the silver in Rio, as well as New Zealander Tom Walsh.

On second day, the competitions in 16 events will start at 1800 hrs at the Mladost stadium. Admission is free.

This year, the meeting will feature Croatian Olympic champions --  discus thrower Sandra Perkovic and javelin thrower Sara Kolak -- as well as other Olympic participants including sprinter Andrea Ivancevic, who specialises in the 100 metres hurdles, and shot putter Stipe Zunic.

Also, Serbia's Ivana Spanovic, a long jumper that won the bronze at the Rio Olypic Games, will participate in the Hanzekovic track and field meeting. Her rival will be British high jumper and world vice-champion Shara Proctor.

The organisers confirmed the arrival of U.S. hurdler David Oliver and French Pascal Martinot-Lagarde and Wilhelm Belocian.
