China's Sun Yang wins men's 200m freestyle gold in Rio

China's Sun Yang claimed the third Olympic gold medal of his career and first at the 2016 Rio Games by winning the men's 200m freestyle Monday.

Sun produced a fast finish to touch the wall in 1 minute 44.65 second, comfortably ahead of South Africa's Chad le Clos (1:45.20) and American Conor Dwyer (1.45.23).

Earlier in Rio Sun took silver in the men's 400m freestyle and became embroiled in a war of words with Australian winner Mack Horton regarding a previous ban the Chinese had served for doping in 2014. Sun revelled in his victory and threw his cap into the crowd in celebration.
