The private cargo craft Dragon, which departed from the International Space Station on Friday, successfully returned to Earth with a splashdown into the Pacific Ocean.
The unmanned ship, which was transporting 1,300 kilogrammes of waste and scientific experiments, parachuted into the waters off Mexico just a few hours after leaving the space station, NASA said in a statement.
Recovery crews will transport the capsule to Los Angeles.
The spaceship, developed by private space firm SpaceX, docked with the station about a month ago, bringing supplies for the crew, which is currently researching the effects of extended stays in space on astronauts' metabolism, digestion and blood pressure.
