Turkey calls on Saudi Arabia and Iran to tamp down tensions

Iran and Saudi Arabia must find a way to reduce tensions resulting from the Saudi execution of a Shiite cleric, says Turkey.

"The political tension between these two countries can't contribute to peace in the region, which already resembles a powder keg," said Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus in a Twitter post.

He named Saudi Arabia and Iran "the most important countries of the Islamic world."
