Slovenia introduces stricter measures for migrants, asks Croatia to invest more efforts

The Slovenian Government on Wednesday adopted several restrictive measures aimed at reducing the migrant influx.

It expanded the list of safe countries from which migrants and asylum seekers would be allowed to enter Slovenia and decided to in the future protect its border with Croatia with the help of the national army.

Slovenian Interior Minister Vesna Gjerkes Znidar told a news conference that Slovenia had adopted these measures to adjust to the measures adopted by neighbouring Austria, adding that Ljubljana expected Croatia to invest more efforts into the filtration of migrants and the reduction of the number of migrants headed towards the Slovenian border.

The Austrian government on Wednesday announced the the daily limit for the entry of migrants in Austria will be 3,300.
