Plane with 93 on board comes off runway in Ecuador

An airliner slid off the runway during bad weather in Ecaudor Thursday injuring two people slightly, media reports said.

The twin-engine plane from the airline TAME with 93 people on board veered off the tarmac at Cuenca airport during rain.

Two people on board were suffered light injuries, said Marcelo Cabrera, the mayor of Cuenca, 300 kilometres south of the capital Quito.

The Embraer 190 plane came to a halt just short of a main road.

Crash investigators have begun probing the incident to discover the cause.

The airport said it would be closed for 36 hours.
