A man was killed in Malta on Saturday after a bomb planted in his car exploded, police said.
Martin Cachia was killed when the bomb was detonated as he was driving in a main road in the south of the Mediterranean island.
Cachia, a 56-year-old man from the seaside village of Marsascala, has a pending court case against him in connection with human trafficking.
Witnesses said they heard a loud explosion before the car went out of control and crashed into a wall. A gaping hole could be seen right under the driver's side of the car.
"I heard a very loud noise and the place was shaking," Noel Dalli told Times of Malta.
No suspects have yet been identified.
