Number of attacks on foreigners still at high levels in Germany

Violence against foreigners or their property remains at a high level in Germany this year, the Interior Ministry has revealed.

Since the start of 2016, the ministry recorded 507 incidents such as bodily harm or arson, according to an official response to an inquiry from the Green party.

In the whole of 2015, there were 918 incidents.

The number of politically motivated attacks against asylum seekers and refugees stood at over 1,800 between January and August.
