A gathering of Croatian and Burgenland Croat business women was held at the Croatian Embassy in Vienna on Thursday evening with the aim of networking, promoting business cooperation and exchanging experience.
Attending were about 80 Croatian women entrepreneurs, professionals and scientists from Vienna and Burgenland.
"The Croatian Embassy in Austria and the Croatian Business Agency (HGA) seek to intensify cooperation between the Croatian and Austrian economies," Croatian Ambassador Vesna Cvjetkovic said.
HGA director Klaudia Paulitsch said that the purpose of this initiative was to further advance economic cooperation between Austria and Croatia.
In Austria, 43.5 percent of businesses started in 2015 were launched by women. "Never before have there been so many women entrepreneurs and working women, which should also be reflected through their presence in management structures," said Petra Gregorits, chair of the Women in Business platform at the Vienna Chamber of Commerce.
"This is a very nice initiative and it would be good if it evolved into a viable project," said Matea Leko, a young artist and manager living in Vienna.
The meeting was organised by the Economic Department of the Croatian Embassy and the HGA, which is based in Burgenland.
