EU member states have put off their planned approval of a trade deal negotiated with Canada, says Slovak Economy Minister Peter Ziga, with just over a week to go before the deal is supposed to be signed by both sides.
"We are moving towards this clear objective," Ziga says, noting that "all member states except one are on board in terms of substance."
"However, consultations are still ongoing in Belgium to find a solution," he adds.
The aim is now to resolve the issue in the coming days, so EU leaders can approve the trade deal at a summit later this week, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom says.
