Belgian prosecutors appeal for new evidence on third airport attacker

Belgian prosecutors are appealing to the public for new information about the third attacker at the Brussels airport, known as the "man with the hat" based on video surveillance images, who fled the airport, where two suicide bombers set off explosions.

"We especially appeal to people who might have filmed or taken a photograph of the suspect," says prosecution spokesman Eric van der Sypt, adding: "All information will be handled discreetly."

In a reconstruction based on surveillance camera footage, the man is shown walking and then running near the airport. It shows him walking for a long way through the nearby town of Zaventem and into Brussels, towards the area where several European Union institutions are based.

At one point he cast off the jacket he had worn at the airport, which is white with a hood lined in black. "We're particularly interested in the jacket," another spokesman adds.
