Three members of the Culture Ministry's council for the book publishing industry - Nadezda Cacinovic, Gordana Crnkovic and Neven Jovanovic - have tendered their resignations to their posts in the council.
Notifying Culture Minister Zlatko Hasanbegovic of their decision in a letter on Wednesday, the three members of the council said the reason for their move was their dissatisfaction with the minister's disregard for their recommendations regarding his recent decisions on financial support for magazine and book publishers.
"In our work we continually, conscientiously and in a timely manner evaluated the proposed projects in the field of the publishing industry, thus contributing to the care for a high standard of the written word in Croatia. Since with your recent decisions on support for magazine and book publishers you largely ignored our recommendations, our cooperation is no longer possible or useful," they said, noting also that by being late in making decisions on the approval of projects, the minister had caused new problems in the publishing industry.
The council for the book publishing industry has four members.
