Croatian Culture Minister Berislav Sipus and Spanish Secretary of State for Culture Jose Maria Lassalle Ruiz met in Madrid on Friday and talked about advancing the two countries' cultural relations.
One of the topics of the talks was better cooperation in conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, the exchange of experts and promotion of cooperation between the Croatian Restoration Institute and the Spanish Heritage Institute, the Croatian Culture Ministry said on its website.
The meeting was also attended by the general director for cultural policy, industry and books, Jose Pascual Marco Martinez, who said that in 2015, Spain invested EUR 45,000 in the translations of the work by Spanish authors to Croatian. He underscored there was room for improvement of cooperation in that area.
Sipus stressed there was no Cervantes Institute in Croatia, the existence of which would facilitate bilateral cooperation and direct contacts between artists and institutions. State Secretary Lasalle Ruiz said Spain was willing to look into that issue.
The talks also focused on a stronger cooperation between all Mediterranean countries.
