Croatia marking Book Night on 22 April

The fifth edition of Book Night will take place in over 210 cities and towns throughout Croatia on 22 April, a member of the organising committee, Zdenka Sviben, has recently told a news conference.

Croatian Book Night will be held a day before World Book Night, set for 23 April.

As many as 450 participants, including libraries, bookshops, publishing houses, schools and cultural institutions will organise various programmes to celebrate books and reading next Friday.

Books will also be sold at discount prices in over 100 bookshops in Croatia.

Libraries will offer free memberships that day.

World Book Night 2016 falls on 23 April in memory of Shakespeare’s death anniversary (23 April 1616) as well as that of Miguel de Cervantes (22 April 1616).
