2nd Zagreb Book Festival opens

The 2nd Zagreb Book Festival was opened on Monday and it will comprise about 40 events with some 30 prominent foreign and domestic literary guests.

The festival, which closes on May 22, was organised by the Naklada Ljevak publisher and the programme is dedicated to Ireland under the motto "Ireland - Promised Land".

Guests include Irish authors Sebastian Barry, John Connolly, David Park, and Eoin Colfer, as well as Swedish authors Carl-Johan Vallgren and Jujja Wieslander as part of the "Tribute to Sweden".

Irish Ambassador Tim Harrington attended the opening at the Museum of Arts and Crafts, saying he was proud that Ireland was chosen as this year's partner country at an event celebrating the culture and literature of Croatia and Ireland, countries which he said had many things in common.
