Zagreb to host intl. cat exhibitions this weekend

About 200 cats of some 20 breeds, including the Kurilian longhair and shorthair bobtails, will be shown at international exhibitions at Zagreb's Westegate shopping mall this weekend.

The shorthair bobtail is a rare breed not present in Croatia and is mostly found in Russia. The Croatian stars will be the British shorthair cats.

The exhibitions were organised by the Alliance of Croatian Felinological Societies. The cats on show will come from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland.

The exhibitors will try to qualify for the Mediterranean Winner Show which will be held in Rome on the first weekend in April.

On Saturday, the exhibitions will be open from noon to 9 p.m. and the winners will be proclaimed at 7.30 p.m. On Sunday, the exhibitions will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the winners proclaimed at 4.30 p.m.
