We will form new majority, says Karamarko

The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) has decided to form a new majority and the goal is that it be a good one, HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko said on Saturday, ruling out the possibility of further cooperation with the Bridge party.

"We have the predispositions to embark on a reshuffle," he told reporters after an HDZ Main Committee session.

Our goal is for the new majority to be good because this must not happen again, Karamarko said, ruling out the possibility of further cooperation with Bridge because, "enough with that merry-go-round."

He said the HDZ Presidency earlier today discussed the possibility that he resign as First Deputy Prime Minister and that it was concluded that he should not because the HDZ had already made too many concessions.

Karamarko said the HDZ stuck by its position that PM Tihomir Oreskovic no longer had the party's confidence. He would not say how the party planned to oust Oreskovic, whether by impeachment in parliament or by the HDZ ministers' leaving the government.

Karamarko said he also called on the ministers to do their job because it was important that the ministries functioned.
